Inspired by the late 19th early 20th century aesthetic movement for artistic dress, this is a relaxed fit fine double layer longer length dress based on a kaftan shape. It has a deep V neck, dropped shoulder line, wide sleeves and generous patch pockets. The top layer is a fine semi sheer pure cotton voile with a bold block printed kalamkari design in slate and rust on a creamy ground. The reverse is a fine cotton silk mix block printed with a paisley boteh motif in rust, black and emerald set in borders on a plain latte ground. Although technically the lining I thought this silk cotton mix was so attractive that I have added patch pockets to this reverse side to make the dress effectively reversible. Created from carefully selected vintage 100% cotton and silk saris. I have designated this a medium size. It is graded to a UK 12, but its very generous cut would means it would work for a wide range of sizes from UK 10 16, depending how loose you like the fit. Shown on a size UK12 tailor's mannequin. I have given the actual garment measurements below so it is very important you ascertain for yourself how it will work with your own measurements. Remember to double the bust figure to give maximum circumferences, and that these pieces are meant to be loose fitting, so allow a generous amount of room over your particular body measurements Underarm to underarm (bust) ; 69cms 27" Shoulder to hem ; 132cms 52" Depth of V neck 26cms 10" Construction As with all of the Pavilion Parade Vestments pieces, the quality of the finish is paramount, with French and bound seams throughout (no overlocking) to ensure both a comfortable wear and a long life. Each of these pieces is created from vintage 100% natural fibre saris. The design is very considered, with the cut engineered to make the best use of the various areas of beautiful printed design on the sari. I will spend some hours before cutting trying out different pattern layouts to ensure the most pleasing finished effect. Care; Whilst it is OK to dry clean these dresses I would always urge a gentle hand wash instead where possible. Much better for the environment and your pocket! Remember that this is how these saris would largely have been cleaned in their previous life anyway. Gently agitate your cotton dress in a bowl of cool (not hot) water with liquid handwash detergent for delicates. Rinse thoroughly in cool water. Gently press out excess water (don't wring) and then hang up on a padded hanger to drip dry either outside or over the bath. They really don't take long to dry. A press with a warm iron on the cotton setting will bring your dress up beautifully, or you can just leave if you prefer a more crumpled look. The ingredients Please be aware that these unique pieces are created from vintage textiles, which have had a previous life, so consequently there may be the odd very minor smudge or tiny catch to the surface of the fabric. These in no way impinge on their beauty, and you can be sure that they do not compromise the integrity of the material. Any little area of actual damage or thinning is repaired with a tiny embroidered patch (one of my favourite features!), and this is always clearly mentioned in the description.
